Two Phytobia species added to the Northamptonshire vice county list
On 20 December 2023, Tim Pridmore visited Farthinghoe Local Nature Reserve in Northamptonshire VC32, looking for the larval feeding signs of Phytobia carbonaria (Zetterstedt, 1848) and Phytobia cerasiferae (Kangas, 1955). Within a few minutes of searching, he found medullary spots of each species in Hawthorn and Blackthorn stems, representing the first known record of each species in the vice county.
