Phytobia species are added to the North Devon Diptera list
On 26 January 2024, Andrew Cunningham checked Hawthorn stems at Tiverton, North Devon VC4 and recorded the larval feeding signs of Phytobia carbonaria (Zetterstedt, 1848). Andrew’s record is the first for the vice county.
The following day, Andrew recorded the medullary spots of Phytobia cerasiferae (Kangas, 1955) in Blackthorn at Halberton, North Devon VC4 which is the first known record for the vice county.
