Most northerly record to date for Phytobia species is reported
On 30 January 2024, Ann McGregor examined Blackthorn stems on the Island of Kerrera, Argyll VC98 and found the distinctive medullary spots of Phytobia cerasiferae (Kangas, 1955). This record represents the first occurrence of the species in the vice county and also the most northerly record to date.
Many thanks to Ann and South West Scotland Environmental Information Centre for submitting the record.
